By Jennifer Sampson Rhodes ( formerly Forsyth)
This is a basket pattern-instructions to weave the basket shown, not a finished basket.
Another great design from Jenn Forsyth. Jenn was inspired to design this basket after seeing a similar antique oak splint basket at a local shop. Useful for holding magazines, towels, as a craft tote--many uses !
Size is 6 1/2" wide x 13" long x 10" high.
Weaving materials required : 1" Flat, 1/4" Flat or Flat Oval,1/2" flat, #3 seagrass for rim filler, 1/2" Flat dyed ( optional), 5/8" Flat natural or dyed, 3/8" Flat for last row, 1/2" half round for rims, 8" square open notched handle.
All materials available below.

| | | Half Round Reed~one lb.coil Half round reed is as it sounds, exactly one half of a thick piece of round reed. Thicker than flat oval and is great for sturdy rims on utility or historic baskets.May also be used to make your own handles. Be sure to scarf down the overlaps well on half round when using for rims.
