Hi! My name is Kathi Murray-Calvert and I am the owner of KMC Baskets & Folkart. It is with a warm and happy heart that I welcome you to my little corner of the world wide web---it's been a long time coming, but I'm finally here!
I wove my first basket from a commercial kit and painted my first piece of folk art in 1993. I haven't stopped since, and my intense love of both forms of art gave birth to "KMC Baskets & Folkart". Although I occasionally sell my baskets and folk art at shows and shops, I have spent the bulk of the last two years building my basketry supply business. I hope to someday incorporate finished folk art for sale on line, with my work and work from other American artists, but that will be down the road when my website is more complete. It is all so exciting for me that I have to constantly tell myself "one step at a time".
Below you will find info about ordering and shipping policies here at KMC. If there is something special you are looking for, or if you have any questions about basket making, just call or email. I'm happy to help in any way that I can.
Thanks for visiting, and don't forget to bookmark our site so you can check in for special sales and news from the world of baskets.

"SHIPPING & HANDLING"
***Because I charge exact shipping fees by weight, you will not see shipping charges reflected in your online total at the check out. You will receive an email confirmation after I retrieve, pack, and weigh in your order which shows exact shipping charges. A handling fee of $3.50 is added to each order to help us cover our packing supply costs and UPS fees.***
We presently ship to the continental USA, Alaska, and HI. We ship overseas only if you are an APO or FPO.
Shipping is by UPS ground,or Priority mail at my discretion unless you specify a preference. I try my best to ship the method that is least costly for you.
Generally, packages that weigh less than 5 lbs are better to go US mail, more than 5 lbs UPS. All orders to Alaska, HI and overseas are priority mail. Weavers Stain can only be shipped UPS Ground therefore cannot ship to AK,HI or overseas.
If you are mailing in an order, add $7.50 or 20% of your subtotal for shipping , whichever is greater, plus $3.50 packing (handling) fee. I will refund over payment or invoice you for under payment (for differences exceeding 50 cents) .
I offer several generous discount policies. Guild and group ordering is welcome--get together with weaving friends and save $.
Because some of my discounts include groups of items, you will not always see the discounts applied in your total at the check out online.
Rest assured that your credit card will not be billed until after I have personally retrieved your order and calculated all discounts due and added in exact shipping. You will then receive an email confirmation from me showing you your total including discounts given and shipping added in.
Returns must be pre-authorized by me, so please call if you are unhappy with anything you receive.
There are NO returns on patterns. Although I am happy to guide you if I can, it is best to contact pattern authors directly if you find any discrepancies .
Defective coils of reed must be reported within 7 days of receipt to receive replacement.
There are no returns after 30 days from sale date.
There is a $5.00 re-stocking fee for returns not due to error on our part or defect in materials.
Any personal information given to KMC by you for ordering purposes is kept in a hard copy file under lock and key.
I do not share or sell information such as addresses, names or lists with anyone.
You will not receive junk mail from KMC. I occasionally send out email "UPDATES" if I need to alert customers of store closings or arrival of awaited items, important basketry news, etc.. It is my hope that shopping for your basketry supplies at KMC will be a pleasant and not bothersome experience. My "Goal and Mission" as a business is a simple one......To help make accessible the joy and fun of weaving and painting ; to enjoy friendships with those who enjoy these art forms as I do ; and to hopefully earn income to help support and educate my three fantastic children--that's it in a nutshell!
Whew!! Sure hope I covered everything!!!!!!!
