**This is a basket pattern~~instructions to weave the basket shown**
A large basket with a cathead bottom, reminiscent of Shaker style baskets. This was my first cathead and I was thrilled to see how easy it is.
Base is about 10" x 10" and diameter across top is 14". Square ash handle w/dip is used and is listed below. A continous weave of 7mm or 1/4" flat oval.
1/2" half round is used for rim and skids on bottom. Also uses 5/8" flat, narrow cane to lash base runners, and medium binder cane to lash rim.

 | Ash-13 1/2" spread w/dip (20" notch to notch)--short
Looks the same as the 10 1/2" short.
For Eileen Laporte's "Shaker Apple Basket" pattern.

| | | Half Round Reed~one lb.coil Half round reed is as it sounds, exactly one half of a thick piece of round reed. Thicker than flat oval and is great for sturdy rims on utility or historic baskets.May also be used to make your own handles. Be sure to scarf down the overlaps well on half round when using for rims.

| | | Narrow Binder Cane (4.00mm) Approx. 1/8" in width. 500' per coil.

| | | Medium Binder Cane (5.00mm) Approx. 3/16" in width. 500' per coil.
